Was it Aguardiente Antioqeno or Cristal ? A shot of aguardiente is typically served 'straight' and is followed with a fresh fruit 'chaser' such as fresh mango, pina or whatever you might have in the fridge. Mamoncillo is excellent but I've never come across it in the Boston area.
